What services does HIL provide?

HIL is a dedicated clinic that does heart screening to assess the risk of heart problems

  • Blood testing
  • Heart rhythm tracing (ECG)
  • Exercise stress tests to assess for blood vessel blockages in the heart
  • Ultrasound scans to check heart function (echo test)
  • Angiography - gold standard procedure done to accurately diagnose blockages in blood vessels
  • Angioplasty (stenting) - procedures to treat / open up blocked vessels.

Heart International will also be providing cardiology check ups and testing for immigration.

Angioplasty (stenting procedures) has developed significantly in the last few years to replace coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG also referred to as open heart surgery).

About 2/3 of patients with important blockages can be safely and cheaply treated with stents. This is done from a small needle-hole in the wrist. After the procedure patient’s are able to sit up and walk around in an hour or two and discharged home within 4 to 6 hours of having the procedure. The recovery is very short given the minimally invasive nature of the procedure.

More importantly this concept of “micro-operation” or “keyhole surgery” as opposed to big operations generally carries a fraction of the risk of open heart surgery.
